Freshly baked "calzoni" (savory pastries filled with the pizza's ingredients), cakes, frozen desserts, pastries and croissants. A place that is worth trying in the industrial area in via Cadriano, between Bologna and Granarolo, overlooking the square of the Granarolo's Dairy plant.
Gino Fabbri discovered his passion for cakes and pastries in the pastry shop of Castenaso, his birthplace, where he began working still a teenager. After years of hard work, he decided to open his pastry shop with his wife Morena. Thus the pastry shop "La Caramella" (the candy) is founded in 1982. Gino Fabbri attended the courses of some great italian pastry chefs and in 1989 he completely renovated the pastry shop with a more modern and bright look. 2003 is the year that the historic name "La Caramella" is abandoned for a more personal Gino Fabbri Pasticcere. Together with the name changes the logo, that becomes a stylized F.
In 1996 Gino Fabbri joined the "Accademia Maestri Pasticceri Italiani", the association of Italian pastry masters which recently elected him for president. He participates in several competitions, including one especially important for the Cake of the 2000 Jubilee. In this contest he won the first place and thanks to this he met the pope Giovanni Paolo II.
In 2009 he was elected by his fellows their Pastry Chef, a prestigious recognition for the professionalism and the constant search for quality.
In 2012 in the Gambero Rosso's thematic guide the Pasticceria Gino Fabbri was reported among the top eight italian deserving of highest recognition (with 3 cakes' symbols and 3 special prizes).
