"Funghi Valentina" is a farm that since 1980 grows Champignon mushroom, also known as agaricus bisporus, or common mushroom. The activity is initiated by Oriano Borghi with a core group of spaces (rooms) for intensive cultivation, repaired and followed meticulously.
The company name is made after the daughter of Borghi, at that time aged of 3 years. In 1997 the greenhouses become ten and the product gets the QC brand (controlled quality) from the Regione Emilia Romagna. In 2000 it was built a new business area with cultivation rooms and catering services, wharehousing and shipping place. It dates back to 2009 the expansion of a new, modern building. In that year the company was certified for organic production of cultivated mushrooms.
The mushrooms are distributed all over Italy throught a network of resellers. Inside the company headquarters there is a shop for the direct sale of fresh mushrooms (in different packaging) and of jars made from mushrooms processed.
From autumn to spring time it is possible to participate to evening tasting sessions.
Young visitors coming from kindergartens and schools can participate to special programmed tours consisting of classroom, visit to the culture rooms with mushroom picking, back in the classroom for a sensor and analytical approach on the mushroom nutritional carachteristics.
