In Sant'Agata Bolognese, the Bibiena theatre is very interesting, one of the Pianura Bolognese small jewels.
The origins of the theatre, which is housed in the town hall, date back to the end of the 18th century, even though it has nothing to do with the theatre of Sant' Agata planned by Ferdinando Galli Bibiena in 1718. It is entitled to the Bibiena family of architect, who took had a residence in Sant'Agata.
The inauguration of the theatre in its present form took place on the 27th October 1888, with a production of Pipelet. It is named after the Bibiena family, who tradition dictates used to have a residence in Sant'Agata opposite the Oratory of the Holy Ghost.
The main feature of this theatre is how small and intimate it is (only one hundred seats in elegant stalls), a characteristic which has led to the choice of particularly cultured activities.
The theatre boasts a richly varied theatrical season, including the playbill "TTTXTE. Tre Teatri per te" (Three theaters for you). This initiative, which is a result of a joint cooperation between the municipalities of Crevalcore, San Giovanni in Persiceto and Sant'Agata Bolognese, is aimed at bringing different theatrical genres as well as concerts to people.
