Where: Via Tosarelli 191 - 40055 Castenaso (BO)
When: May 20, 2018
An historical re-enactment focused on the Villanovan civilization takes place on May 20 in the garden of MUV, the important Museum that rises exactly where, between 1853 and 1856, the Bolognese Count and archaeologist Giovanni Gozzadini discovered the most ancient traces of the Etruscan civilization, dating back to a period ranging from the early first millennium b.c. (the Iron Age) to the late 9th century b.c.. The discovery was so important that the "new" civilization was named after the locality Villanova di Castenaso.
On May 20 the Museum will improve its unique collection with an accurate reproduction of an ancient Villanovan house, a full-scale hut built following documents and artifacts of the time.
Around the inauguration of the Villanovan house takes place a re-enactment of the handcrafted activities of the time, such as the bronze working, the production of glass pearls to make decorations, the spinning and the clay working. Children can join workshops and test themselves with (harmless) swords.
The activities will be accompanied by live music and dances inspired by the culture of the Etruscan Orientalizing period and the coeval Mediterranean civilizations, played trough musical instruments of the time.
The event takes place next to the annual Villanovan Festival, where food stands will serve typical stuffed crescentine and piadine or hot dishes from 5.30PM.
