Navile's cycle path along the Reno valley

The path is a cycle route along the ancient waterway silk road that in the past connected Bologna to Malalbergo along the following tracks.

The route starts from the ancient (river) port of Bologna (Sostegno della Bova), located in via Bovi Campeggi, and takes its way northbound following the riverside of the Navile Canal.

Along the route you meet the remains of the massive hydraulic structures, which give you back the charm of Bologna watercourses, European capital of silk and crossroad of international trade.

Outside the city of Bologna the landscape changes into the relaxing rural context of the Bolognese Plains, dotted with farms, ancient villas and rows of trees. In Castel Maggiore territory the cycle route passes by the Sostegno di Castagnolo Maggiore.

Around Bentivoglio is possible to take little detours to the local Museum of Rural Culture and to the La Rizza natural Oasis. The pathway goes forward along dirt roads and seconday roads to Malalbergo. It is important to pay attention to cars and other vehicles when sharing or crossing the roads.
