Where: Borgo Castello, San Martino in Soverzano - 40061 Minerbio (BO)
When: October 5-6, 2019
Traditional October fair in the ancient borough of the fabulous castle of San Martino in Soverzano. During the first weekend of October this fairy-tale location turns into the peculiar setting of this event, including historical re-enactments, shows, street market and food stall serving traditional Bolognese food.
On Sunday from 7.30am will be served the traditional breakfast with cotechino (boiled salami) and purè (mashed potatoes).
The event is an occasion to admire the castle, still in excellent condition. Its origin dates back to 1411, when the Manzoli family built the castle as an aristocratic residence around the ancient tower of the Ariosti, which stood at the edge of the marsh from the 13th century and nowadays is surrounded by the castle.
Since 1584, according to tradition, the first week-end of October has always held a craft market under the arcades of the borough of the castle. Instead of cattle (once a bargaining chip) today you can find handicraft, plants and food specialties.
