Where: MAGI'900 Museun, Pieve di Cento (BO)
When: 8 April - 26 June 2022
The writer and poet Gian Ruggero Manzoni proposes, for the entire spring season of the MAGI'900 Museum, a selection of nine Italian artists of different generations, united by poetics that have their narrative horizon in the mythical imagination.
The nine artists are Alberto Bambi, Daniela Carletti, Michelangelo Galliani, Gianni Guidi, Fabrizio Loschi, Sergio Monari, Giovanni Scardovi, Amir Sharifpour and Sergio Zanni and their works build a journey that weaves fascinating shared narratives, between memory and transcendence, naturalness and mystery.
The authors propose evocative, surreal and symbolist sculpture, which mainly favours traditional materials such as clay or marble.
Some of the artists come from group experiences that have already seen them as protagonists, since the end of the 1970s, of the Romagna-Ferrarese movement, theorised by Giovanni Scardovi, called "Immaginario Pagano", later supported by important critics such as Giulio Guberti, Adriano Baccilieri, Filiberto Menna and Marisa Vescovo. This poetic vision is historicized by Gian Ruggero Manzoni, in a reinterpretation that starts from the recovery of the original memory, symbolically represented in the title, which recalls the imaginative suggestion of the ancient Mesopotamian city of Ur.
The exhibition is illustrated in a catalogue published by Danilo Montanari, with an introduction by Valeria Tassinari and a critical text by Gian Ruggero Manzoni.
Admission to the exhibition is free. Reservation recommended.
Open only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. Last entrance at 5 p.m. Mask is mandatory.
