Where: Via Tizzano, 34 - 40033 Casalecchio di Reno (BO)
In Casalecchio di Reno, opposite the Colle della Guardia, across the river Reno, stands the Eremo di Tizzano (4 km from the town centre, in the direction of Zola Predosa).
A retreat for the Camaldolesi (a contemplative religious order), this large Baroque church is composed of six inter-connected chapels.
Inside, the wooden choir stalls are worth seeing, as are the paintings by Gandolfi and the Guercino. Behind the church, you can see two of the seventeen cells where the monks used to live.
There is also a notable view over Bologna and the plains.
