When: from December 21, 2014 to January 18, 2015
Dozens of handcrafted nativity scenes coming from all over the region in exhibition in the majestic church of Santa Maria di Venezzano. The collection includes both professional and amateur made cribs, some of which are created by children, in several materials: iron, clay, plastic, recyclable materials, fabric, play dough.
The inauguration is on Sunday December 21 at 3.30pm with a concert of Mascarino choral.
The exhibition is also an occasion to admire the massive and slender complex of the majestic neo-Gothic church with a dome 44 metres high and a bell tower.
The church is dedicated to Santa Maria di Venezzano, which is the oldest and official geographical name of the place, probabily dating back to the Roman period. Mascarino, however, is the term used to denote the same place by common people, used since 1385 and probably deriving from the presence of the rich Mascari family.
