In the days around San Lorenzo's night, known in Italy as "the night of the shooting stars", "Persiceteidi" are an occasion to observe the midsummer's night sky and enjoy some of its beautiful lights.


The Museo del Cielo e della Terra of San Giovanni in Persiceto dedicates three nights to shooting stars observation, with free admittance to the Municipal Observatory Giorgio Abetti and the opportunity to spend the night lying on the lawn surrounding the Observatory hill, in the hope to spot the light trail of shooting stars.


An occasion to watch the sky through the telescope set in one of the most important astronomical area of Italy, with the help of the amateurs astronomers of the Astrofili Persicetani group.


The municipal observatory Giorgio Abetti, located in the Museo del cielo e della terra next to the Planetarium, features an heliostat and a reflecting telescope that allows you to see shadows and craters on the moon, the phases of Mercury and Venus the ice poles of Mars, cloudy bands and Jupiter Galilean satellites.


Both the Observatory and the Planetarium are located in the middle of the botanical garden, a green area surrounded by three hundred species of plants belonging to the natural flora of Emilia Romagna region.


A towel or mat is recommended in order to sit on the grass.
