Where: Villa Rusconi, piazza Baldini, Via Schiassi e Riccardina, Loc. Mezzolara - 40054 Budrio (BO)
When: September 20-22 and 27-30, 2019
In the last week of September the village of Mezzolara celebrates its patron saint, San Michele Arcangelo. In times past it was an occasion to bring to the town square the products of the countryside, among which there was the onion. During the years the feast was named after this locally grown vegetable, cultivated throughout the Bolognese plain since the Middle Ages.
The food stand (open every evening for dinner and also for lunch on Sundays) located in the nice park surrounding Villa Rusconi proposes a traditional menu, including onion based dishes, hand-made fresh pasta and tortellini made by the town housewives (the “arzdoure”).
In Baldini square the stand runned by Pro loco serves crescentine and fried onion. It is also possible to buy fresh onions in the playground of the "Cavalli Mezzolaresi".
Along with the religious and culinary aspects, the event has developed a programme of cultural entertainments, shows, art exhibition and sports, and now attracts more and more visitors every year.
