Where: Crevalcore (BO) - viale della Libertà
When: March 17 2013
Masks, acrobats, cheerleaders and marching band parade at the court of the local Carnival's king "Re Tarnên". The afternoon will be entertained even by a show with the comic characters of Radio Bruno.
The whole event this year is scheduled in viale della Libertà (the avenue surrounding the centre) and it's dedicated to children with animation and make-up artists to draw the face of the kids. A food stall sells fried dumpling.
The event is an opportunity to visit the lovely town that has kept intact the structure from 18th and 19th centuries. Particularly the main course with its spectacular effect of undeniable charm is back open to pedestrians. Visitors can walk to the square and along the narrow streets admiring the buildings, some of them still with barriers to protect them after the earthquake of May 2012, but with many public premises open.
A bit of history. The 45th edition of the Carnival of Crevalcore is dedicated to children. The main characters are the king of Crevalcore's Carnival "Re Tarnên" and his partner Varmizlèra.
The most awaited moment usually was the recital of the "zirudèla", a dialect poem typical of the Carnival where re Tarnên from the balcony of the Town hall used to speak of the town commenting on the events of the year and suggesting paradoxing solutions for the sake of the people from Crevalcore. The traditional mask has a white beard and wears a tuxedo with a top hat.
