The tradition of Carnival in San Pietro in Casale, born in 1870, is strictly connected with the creation of the Carnival Society Sandròn Spaviròn, named after the local figure that after many years would have become the traditional stock character of the town.

The story of the society fluctuates between chronicle and legend, talking about the traditions set by the "king" Sandròn Spaviròn in the first editions of the San Pietro's Carnival, including the hymn to be sung for his entrance and the burning of the Carnival's puppet. The latter was accompanied by the Sandròn Spaviròn's testament, namely the recall - of course playful and in dialect - of the persons who have done something remarkable for the town during the previous year.

All these traditions are still part of the Carnival of San Pietro in Casale, together with the float parade and the use to wear masks and have fun.
