The 18th-century building of the old hospital houses a section of ancient art, with works from the Schools of Bologna and Ferrara (16-18th century), and a rich collection of 18th-century paintings.
The masterpiece of the museum is a wooden polychromatic Madonna from the 14th century. There is an important collection of 16th to 18th-century paintings and sculptures from the Schools of Bologna and Ferrara, in particular an Annunciation by the Guercino and a Saint Sebastian by Guardassoni.
A section of 20th-century art, with the Mascellani Collection, houses works by Martini, donations by Cuniberti, Sepo, Ponti and numerous works donated by Tavoni.
Timetable: Sundays and holidays: 10am to 1pm and 3:30pm to 6:30pm // June and July, 10am-1pm and 4.30pm-7:30pm. Closed: August, Christmas, New Year's day, Easter.
Entrance: 5€, including the entrance to all the Pieve di Cento Museums network (Museo delle Storie di Pieve, Archivio fotografico digitale G. Melloni, Pinacoteca Civica, Teatro e Museo della Musica, Museo della Canapa). The ticket can be purchased at the Museo delle Storie di Pieve (Piazza della Rocca 1) where a ticket vending machine is available.
The entrance is free for: residents, under 18, university students, Bologna Museums Card, people with disabilities and support person, teachers accompanying schoolchildren, tourist guides with licence, servicepersons.
Reduced ticket (3€): groups of 8 paying customers or more, over 70, FAI members, "Libera Università" members
